Allegations of Abuse

Lebanon Reporter, Jan. 11

"Indianapolis law firm Ice Miller investigated and reported in November the complainant and two witnesses were more credible than the councilperson. The councilperson declined to go into detail ...

Ice Miller recommended that commissioners take steps to protect their employee from further contact with the councilperson and from retaliation by the councilperson.

But the county employee this month filed a discrimination claim with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, EEOC. In it, the employee claims to have been sexually harassed and then retaliated against for reporting the council member’s conduct."

Real Cost To Taxpayers

This is just the cost of interviews to establish the facts. There were other costs associated with the County's legal team to defend the County, a settlement with the victim, and the longer term psychological damage to County employees. County Council made a $30,000 "Legal Services" funding approval in December 2021 per ocuncil minutes 12.14.21 (perhaps to clean up the mess).

And you can add to all this cost of employee dissatisfaction, retention and re-hires. 

And guess who didn't pay a dime. No politician had to pay for this scandal. No politician's name came out; and none paid a dime out-of-pocket.

In the end, it's the taxpayers that pay. It's why you need to VOTE for CHANGE on Boone County Council!
